ReX 100 Rebar Scanner.

Cover meter with TriDynamic Intelligence: Value for money, 3-in-1 measurement capability.

ReX 100 is an advanced, made-in-India, handheld rebar scanner (cover meter) that provides fast and accurate scan results using the world’s first TriDynamic Intelligence technology developed by Nirixense at IIT Bombay.

ReX 100 uses pulsed eddy current (PEC) technology and built-in encoder to find steel rebars in reinforced cement concrete (RCC) and estimate their cover thickness and diameter.

ReX 100 is powered by real-time edge-AI processing that enables simultaneous 3-in-1 measurement (location, cover and diameter) in a single scan.

Simplify your testing without compromising performance! With ReX 100, you do not need to spend big bucks to get great performance!

Applications

  • Rebar detection
  • Cover thickness checks
  • Assessment of RCC structures
  • Structural audits and quality checks

What makes ReX 100 unique?

  • Made in India rebar scanner (cover meter)
  • The only scanner that measures everything independently: Unlike many other cover meter products, you don’t need to enter cover to measure diameter, or diameter to measure cover. Just scan and measure all parameters independently in a single scan and speed-up your testing!
  • ReX 100 comes with an easy-to-use Android app for site engineers. It shows results clearly and helps create reports quickly. You can use ReX 100 with any Android smartphone. No need to purchase expensive iPad Pro!
  • Custom calibration solutions tailored for your structure’s specific needs for higher accuracy measurements.
  • Performance verification certificate from NABL-accredited Laboratory

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Yes. ReX 100 is fully designed, manufactured, calibrated and tested in India.

ReX 100 uses pulsed eddy current (PEC) technology and built-in encoder to find steel rebars in reinforced cement concrete (RCC) and estimate their cover thickness and diameter. PEC is a non-destructive testing technique used to measure metal thickness and detect corrosion or hidden defects in conductive materials. The system generates short electromagnetic pulses that create eddy currents inside the material. By monitoring how these currents decay over time, the device can accurately assess changes in metal condition, even through coatings, insulation, or concrete. As the device is scanned across the surface, the encoder tracks the distance traveled. At the same time, real-time edge-AI processing delivers a 3-in-1 measurement (rebar location, cover thickness, and diameter) in a single scan.

ReX 100 provides fast and accurate scan results using the world’s first TriDynamic Intelligence technology developed by Nirixense Technologies. This patent-pending, real-time edge-AI algorithm enables simultaneous 3-in-1 measurement (location, cover and diameter) in a single scan. There is no need to pre-set expected cover or diameter values, and no need to perform multiple scans to first locate and then measure rebars. ReX 100 independently measures location, cover, and diameter of rebars in one continuous scan.

Yes, ReX 100 works reliably on curved and irregular RCC surfaces. Its PEC-based sensing does not require a perfectly flat surface. As long as one wheel is in contact with the surface during a scan, the ReX 100 provides accurate rebar detection even on uneven or contoured concrete.

ReX 100 accurately detects reinforcement at different depths. However, like all PEC-based scanners, it is more sensitive to the nearest layer. When multiple layers overlap closely, the device reports the closest reinforcement with the highest confidence.

Yes. ReX 100 distinctly identifies multiple rebars even when they are closely spaced, with reliable detection for reinforcement spacing as low as 60 mm. This capability enables accurate scanning in any reinforced concrete civil structure containing steel reinforcement, including but not limited to bridges, retaining walls, foundations, piers, piles, tunnels, culverts, water tanks, pavements, industrial structures, and precast elements. Please refer to the user guide for details.

ReX 100 detects rebars up to 120 mm deep inside RCC. Please refer to the user guide for details.

No. Most reinforcement in slabs, beams, and columns lies within 20–80 mm, as reflected in cover requirements of codes like IS 456:2000, ACI 318-19, and EN 1992-1-1. Higher penetration often reduces accuracy for shallow bars and can cause errors in multi-layer or jacketed members. Accurate measurement in the typical cover range is more important than deep scanning capability. Please refer to our article for understanding concrete cover depth range for rebar cover meters.

No. ReX 100 is factory-calibrated and ready to scan immediately. For unusual concrete compositions or specialized applications, optional custom calibration may further optimize accuracy, but it is not required for standard RCC.

The ReX Connect Android app is free to use. It can be downloaded at no cost and used with ReX 100 to view, analyze, and manage scan data; no subscription or in-app purchases required.

Yes. You can add multiple ReX 100 scanners in the Android app. You can switch between them anytime, but only one scanner can be used for scanning at a time.

Yes. The ReX Connect Android app supports scan visualization, PDF export with scan results, site details and photographs, sharing of PDF report via WhatsApp, email etc.
